Buenos Aires, March 29 (NA) — After finishing in sixteenth place at the Japanese Grand Prix in Formula 1, Franco Colapinto gave a sincere analysis of his performance, highlighting a good start that he could not maintain as the laps went by. "I'm tired of seeing the Williams from behind. I was behind Lawson, and when the Safety Car came out, we lost five positions. When you start well, you advance a couple of places, but it was a tough race. It's difficult to keep up with the others," said the Alpine driver. However, he admitted that the team did a good job because they have a car that is not very fast and they extracted a lot of potential from it this weekend. "I had a good start and then I got stuck behind (Liam) Lawson," expressed the driver, showing his frustration at not being able to progress on the track. The competition, which saw young Italian Kimi Antonelli win in Mercedes, was marked by an interruption following Oliver Bearman's accident, which led to the entry of the Safety Car, according to the Argentine News Agency. For Colapinto, this factor was decisive: "I think in general it was another race where the Safety Car compromised a lot. Luckily, there is a break to understand a couple of things and improve on what we are missing." Finally, the 22-year-old driver also referred to the performance gap with his teammate Pierre Gasly, who finished seventh, and emphasized the difficulty of racing in traffic: "The starts are a bit dangerous but fun."
